PHS MISSION FIT

SLEEP

Sleep hygiene is the ability to achieve restful sleep and maintain healthy sleep habits that support brain function, emotional balance, and physical recovery. Quality sleep is a critical component of Public Health Service officer health and a cornerstone of mission readiness.

Adequate sleep enhances decision-making, improves physical performance, strengthens resilience, and helps officers remain alert and effective in both routine and high-stress environments. Maintaining healthy sleep practices as part of an overall holistic health plan is especially important during deployments, when demanding conditions can challenge the body and mind.

The following resources provide optional tools to help Public Health Service officers improve sleep quality, understand their sleep patterns, and build sustainable habits. Officers are encouraged to explore these materials based on their individual needs. For personalized assistance or added support, please contact your healthcare provider.
