The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends standing orders for vaccinations — used alone or with other interventions — to increase vaccination rates. Standing orders make it possible for health care providers like nurses and pharmacists to assess whether people have been vaccinated and to follow approved protocols to give people vaccines.
