Abstract

The purpose of the Stevens Johnson Syndrome Support Group (Julie Foundation) is to provide the public with information on adverse allergic drug reactions. Their goal is to make the public aware of adverse reactions, so that quick diagnoses may be made and the offending drug removed as soon as possible. The public needs to know what to look for when taking any drug and seek medical attention immediately in the event of a reaction in order to prevent permanent damage. The group also acts as a advocacy and support group for persons suffering from these kinds of reactions. The SJS Foundation provided fact sheets to emergency rooms and the public. We also provide a quarterly newsletter via email. The foundation tracks cases of Stevens Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis. Documentary Surviving SJS is available on DVD.
